A "message" movie that falls short due to several shortcomings that an excellent cast couldn't overcome. The dialogue was not "fitted" well to the characters. They seemed to have thought what to say with the same brain, a strange feeling that one usually associates with written works not drama. The story was kind of interesting but the enacted plotline seemed like a TV sit-com to me. I think what really sank the film is that we all like intergenerational tales because we who are older don't live in the world we grew up in and the younger set can't realize this about us. This movie seemed to cast that existential fact of life aside and made the old and the young see things as if their experiences, especially of intimacy and relationship-building were mere technique and/or lessons that could be assimilated as "expertise". The oldsters seemed naive and silly and the young seemed unanchored and adrift in life. This movie is about life as it exists only in the movies. Needs an older directo

I am surprised to see Andy Griffith (too old for the part) and Doris Roberts in such a movie. I found it dated and irresponsible in its sexual content and ideas. The plot line had so much potential, but failed to fulfill it. The writing was immature and trite. Most of the acting was stilted and not up to a caliber for theaters. This movie would have been better to go straight to DVD. The main actors(young couple) have potential, but a lot of practice, learning to do and experience to gain before going before the cameras again. I would not recommend this movie to anyone - I was embarrassed for the major actors involved.
